- The French producer digs through more old Chinese vinyl for his latest hip-hop record, out in March.
The third volume of Onra's Chinoiseries will land on March 10th.
The first Chinoiseries album came out in 2007 with a simple manifesto: the French producer, real name Arnaud Bernard, digs through old Chinese vinyl and crafts hip-hop instrumentals from the samples. A follow-up hit the shelves in 2011, and now the third and final instalment in the trilogy is set for release this spring. Chinoiseries Pt. 3, which features 32 tracks, was made using an MPC. Like the last two, the release is being handled by Irish label All City. It'll be available digitally, via Bandcamp, and on vinyl.
"I see the first Chinoiseries as a trip, inspired by my own first travel to Asia, each beat representing one particular moment of the journey," Bernard says. "The second one, more like a soundtrack to a movie, each beat representing a different scene, and the third one, I tried to create a dark, smoky and mysterious cinematic atmosphere so you could create your own movie in your head."
