Golden Donna released a new full-length called Carousel Hold via Bandcamp today.
Joel Shanahan, who splits his time between Madison, Wisconsin and Portland, Oregon, has become a staple of the 100% Silk label, releasing tunes as Golden Donna, Auscultation and Donny on the LA-based imprint. He was set to headline a label showcase in Oakland in December when a tragic fire broke out, killing 33 including his 100% Silk labelmates Cherushii and Nackt.
Shanahan tells RA he "worked on [Carousel Hold] over the past couple weeks as a means of therapy," noting 100% of earnings will be split between the Oakland Fire Relief Fund and the Samuel (Peaches) Maxwell Ghost Ship Survivor Fund. It's out today simultaneous with Bandcamp's pledge to donate all proceeds to the ACLU.
