  • Matthew Dear is next up on !K7's long-running DJ-Kicks mix series. The US DJ and producer hasn't put out an official mix in more than eight years. This one, arriving in late January, has 25 tracks from artists including Simian Mobile Disco, Pearson Sound, Randomer, ItaloJohnson and Alex & Digby. Dear worked in some of his own unreleased material—one cut credited to his given name, and two others from his Audion alias. (Earlier this year, he connected with !K7 to release Alpha, the first Audion album since 2004.) The mixed CD and digital versions will be accompanied by a double-vinyl sampler. "I wanted to create a mix that could be listened to anywhere, and reflect a little bit of everything that I play," Dear says, adding that he's also applied a personal touch: "There are snippets of friends and family strewn throughout the mix. A lot of the vocal interludes you hear are from a portable recorder I've carried with me over the years." Tracklist 01. Nils Frahm - Ode 02. Matthew Dear - Wrong With Us (DJ-Kicks) 03.
