- The UK web radio station will begin broadcasting from its first American outpost this morning.
NTS Radio has opened a studio in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.
NTS, founded in 2011 in East London, opened studios in Manchester and Shanghai last year. The LA location represents their first permanent foray into the US. They've signed up a diverse array of DJs based in the City Of Angels, including Henry Rollins, Silent Servant, Bonobo, and modular specialists Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Alessandro Cortini.
Other locals include Wildheart Recordings affiliate Budgie, Peoples Potential Unlimited signee Benedek, Diagonal associate Elon Katz, Delivery, Magic Touch, Palmbomen II, Peaking Lights, Tahl K and Zernell. The labels wedidit and Astral Plane Recordings will host programs, as will up-and-coming dance promoters Moony Habits and Fine Time.
The studio is located at 5906 1/2 N Figueroa St, which also home to the record store Mount Analog. The boutique shop recently expanded to host the radio studio as well as the LA headquarters of Warp Records. Mount Analog, known for its selection of records, tapes, books and other art objects as well as shows running the gamut from noise to straight-up techno, has recently expanded into an agency as well. The current Mount Analog roster includes NTS affiliates like Powell, Silent Servant and Cortini, as well as the likes of Function, Anthony Naples, Jack J, DJ Stingray and Shifted.
