  • Tangerine Dream are releasing a new album this fall. The German group, led by the late Edgar Froese, have been around in various forms since the late '60s, pioneering synth music and Krautrock on their early records. Froese died at the beginning of last year, but the band, which these days includes Ulrich Schnauss, has continued to release music he contributed to. Last year they put out the Quantum Key EP, and now, as FACT reports, they're back with Quantum Gate. It's credited to three members: Froese, Schnauss and Thorsten Quaeschning. There's not much info other than the title and date ("September 2016"), but the band have also uploaded preview snippets. Earlier this week, Tangerine Dream shared a handful of covers of tracks from the Stranger Things TV series, whose soundtrack by members of S U R V I V E has caused a resurgence of interest in synth music.
