  • Baleine 3000 will release a full-length called The Nap via Vlek on July 29th. The group is made up of DJ Afrojaws (French artist Jef Ablézot), Jun Kamoda, the Japanese producer who recently released The Clay EP on Mister Saturday Night, and Vlek regular Lawrence Le Doux. Le Doux (real name Laurent Baudoux) has operated out of the Brussels scene where Vlek is based for 20 years, but Baleine 3000's output is quite limited. The 2010 Tour Manager compliation from the group integrated Baile Funk, African new beat and Miami bass, so it's safe to assume The Nap is a wild, wide-ranging affair. Thus far this year, Vlek has released the Biocosmos 12-inch from Tav Exotica. The Baleine 3000 release follows a 2015 Vlek solo EP from Le Doux, Pollution. The elaborate artwork for The Nap was created using a ypo-press and also includes "hand-carved vinyl art" from Ablezot. Listen to "Gonna Rain."
