House producer DJ Duke is putting out his first record as Pleasure Dome in 20 years.
The Danish-born, US-based artist, real name Ken Larsen, has released music by way of more than a dozen aliases, primarily through his Power Music Records label family, which includes numerous offshoots like Sex Mania and Earth, Moon & Sun. Pleasure Dome is one moniker he hadn't touched since the mid-'90s, until he was recently contacted by a new label out of Minnesota, called Minneapolis Exchange, who discovered he was "more than happy" to revive the project with new material.
Larsen has offered two original cuts for the occasion, "Wild Dreams" and "7 Min Of Wild Techfunk" (as longtime fans might notice, the latter is titled similarly to much of Pleasure Dome's prior output). B-side remixes come from Adesse Versions, AKA UK producer Kevin Gorman, who's been turning some heads with that newer, more house-oriented alias over the past few years, and Jack Complex, apparently a new name from Minneapolis, whose effort is actually a "rework of both tracks." A digital version will come later, packing a remix from another Minneapolis artist, Jeff Swiff.
Minneapolis Exchange intends to engage in "exchanges with artists around the world, yet each release will feature a Minneapolis-based artist in some shape or form." Further plans for the label have yet to be revealed.
