  • Alix Perez has started his own label called 1985 Music. Belgian producer Alix Depauw is probably best known for his long-running association with Shogun Audio, where he started out making drum & bass and eventually moved towards halftime and other sounds inspired by soul and R&B. He's also collaborated on experimental bass music with EPROM under the name Shades. The first EP, Elephant Dreams, is a four-tracker from Depauw himself and reportedly marks a return to his drum & bass roots. It also features two collaborations with Skeptical, and will come out on digital June 17th, with a vinyl release following on July 1st. "It's a platform rooted primarily in the 85 / 170 BPM bracket but also going beyond with no rules applied," Depauw says of the imprint. "I want to push and support good, forward-thinking music that I believe represents the focus of 1985. It feels good to have complete creative control of music, design and overall feel and this is the exact reason behind this project. No compromise, just an honest creative outlet. Initially, for the first few releases, it will entail my solo work with some collaborations. Subsequent releases will include other artists that are pushing the boundaries and suit the path of One Nine Eight Five." Tracklist A Elephant Dreams feat.
