- Jimpster's label will issue the five-piece various artists collection in June.
London imprint Freerange Records will celebrate two decades in business with a five-piece vinyl box out June 10th.
Jimpster and Tom Roberts' label kicked off in 1996 with an EP from the former. The press release describes the imprint's slow evolution towards the melodic, pad-heavy sound it's known for these days: "Initially [Freerange] was a mix of sample-heavy productions incorporating live musicians, flirtations with the broken beat sound and some ground breaking fidget house cuts from Switch and Trevor Loveys. Then, and most enduringly, the label settled into a rich vein of deep house."
Bulgarian hardware wizard KiNK kicks off the set with a previously unreleased track called "Roads." Elsewhere, Detroit Swindle, Milton Jackson and Pittsburgh Track Authority feature, along with contributions from Japanese producer Kuniyuki and Tijuana-based duo Soul Of Hex. Freerange co-founder Jimpster provides a remix, an original and a collaboration with Luv Jam. The full set is out in early June, with the individual 12-inches slipping out over June and July.
