The Nous alum and Boredoms collaborator will release Zurhyrethm in June.
YPY will issue Zurhyrethm via EM Records on June 25th.
The Osaka experimentalist is known in Japan for his involvement in groups like Goat, Bonanzas and the infamous Boredoms ensemble, but he hadn't hit RA's pages until the release of the i<>Visions EP for Nous, the Berlin-based imprint which ranked among our favorite labels for 2015. Steph Lee called those five tracks "punishing and… delightfully distinct" in her positive review for RA.
EM calls Hino a "rhythm master," saying he "utilizes and transcends the technical limitations of his chosen recording medium of cassette tape and the quirks of relatively primitive drum machines and synthesizers, turning weakness into strength." The seven cuts were culled down from a group of 70 recorded with the help of well-respected DJ Yosuke Yukimatsu. Listen to clips over on the label's site.
