  • In Aeternam Vale will release an album called Pink Flamingos for DEMENT3D in May. Lyon-based Laurent Prot has been making music as In Aeternam Vale since the early '80s, toiling away for years at a heavy-duty electronic sound that touches on EBM, early techno and synth pop. His big break didn't come until decades into his career, when Minimal Wave discovered his work and put out a handful of releases. Since then, he's appeared on Contort and Jealous God and played a handful of festivals and tour dates around the world. Pink Flamingos marks Prot's first full release on Paris label DEMENT3D, which is home to acts like Polar Inertia and DSCRD. It's a triple-LP affair that collects tracks from a wide cross-section of the In Aeternam Vale archives going all the way back to 1986 and up to 2015. It was originally meant to explore the more experimentally-minded, drone side of Prot's work but ended up as something more all-encompassing, including straight-up techno cuts. Prot will be performing this Friday at La Gaite Lyrique in Paris as part of a DEMENT3D showcase. We profiled the French imprint last spring as part of our Label of the month feature series, and you can read it here. Watch a video of Prot playing live below.
