- The French disco legend will release Afro this month.
Cerrone will release Afro via his own Malligator Preference and Because Music on February 12th.
The French disco legend born Marc Cerrone released his first album in 1976, going on to score hits like "Love in C Minor" and "Supernature." He hasn't released any new material since 2012's Addict, which featured two new productions. The new record sees him working with celebrated Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen, and Cameroonian saxophonist Manu Dibango who features on the B-side. The title of that track, "Funk Makossa," references Dibango's "Soul Makossa." New Jersey-born house mainstay Todd Edwards is on-board for a remix.
The new EP precedes an album, due in summer 2016, which sees him making "a passionate tribute to Africa," according to the label. Because Music has recently given Cerrone's classic albums deluxe reissues. Last year's the Give Me Remixes collection featured reworks of his classic tunes by Joey Negro and Frankie Knuckles, among others.
