  • A new venue called Geneva Club has opened in Cologne. Geneva Club is located on Luxemburgerstasse in central Cologne, just west of the Rhine River. It's taken over a concert space with a 30-year history (the venue was one of the first places Nirvana played in Europe), and has room for just over 200 people. A small crew of locals are behind the new project, most of whom have been working in music and events for years (some are involved with well-known Cologne venue King Georg, while another is a former employee of the city's Parallel Records store). A strong focus on residents is core to Geneva Club's booking policy. "It's a club that defines itself not through guests but via its residents," co-founder Lars Fleischmann told RA over email. "We don't define ourselves by genres, either. DJs and DJ-culture is at the centre of this club, with long sets (six to eight hours) and wide variety of music." The coming weeks will see Lobster Theremin act Privacy, Johannes Albert and artists representing Frank Musik all touch down for slots. US rapper Guilty Simpson will also make an appearance.
