A new 12-inch from Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 label has appeared on the shelves at Hard Wax.
At this stage, details of the record are sketchy. Titled Plus 8 25/1, it's credited to Unknown Artist—though a listen to the sound clips at Hard Wax reveal the record bears similarities to Hawtin's work as Plastikman. Most people with any connection to the record are keeping tight-lipped: Hawtin's management said they weren't aware of the release, while Hard Wax declined to comment.
Plus 8 hasn't put out a vinyl release since 2012, though in 2014 it did issue a digital single by testpilot (an alias of deadmau5). The label, founded by Hawtin and John Acquaviva, has been active since the early '90s, putting out influential techno records from the likes of Speedy J, Adam Beyer, Baby Ford and Hawtin himself as Plastikman.
