  • Morgan Geist will release Megaprojects One via Environ Records on October 23rd, 2015. The last time the NYC-based producer released anything under his proper name was in 2008 with the Double Night Time LP. Since then, he's stayed busy with his vocal house project, Storm Queen (with which he managed to top the UK singles chart), as well as the RA recommended alias The Galleria, a freestyle-inspired outlet featuring Canadian artist Jessy Lanza. On Megaprojects One, Geist looks back to straight-up Midwest dance music, the sort he previously explored on late '90s releases for Dan Curtin's Metamorphic Recordings. Geist provides the following on the four-track EP's conceptual underpinning: "Megaprojects are by definition large-scale, high-tech and cost billions of dollars, whereas this is a collection of low-tech tracks made with cheap little drum machines and rejected old synths, so I thought it was a good name. I composed and mixed to the best of my ability and with hope they'll feel more 'mega' than they actually are. And of course I've always felt inspired and fascinated by actual megaprojects: imposing, surreal engineering and architecture like giant hydroelectric dams, soaring bridges and strange-looking, exposed-concrete government buildings."
