  • Antwerp promoter IKON will host a charity fundraiser called Techno For Humanity on Thursday, September 17th. News of the event arrives a week on from Ida Engberg's Facebook post, which was an attempt to drum up support for Syria's refugee crisis among the dance music community. She proposed a "big charity techno event" where all the artists play for free. IKON saw the post and offered up its soon-to-be-opened HQ, a three-room nightclub in Antwerp. Engberg will be joined by Adam Beyer, Davide Squillace, Matthias Tanzmann, Guti, Marc Houle, Heidi, Christian Smith, Yousef and Marco Faraone among others. Be-AT.TV will stream the night via its website. All the proceeds from the event will be evenly split between four charities: Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) International, Migrant Offshore Aid Station, International Rescue Committee and The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). An estimated nine million Syrians have fled their homes since the outbreak of civil war in 2011.
