  • Reports are circulating that the UK DJ Colin Faver has died. Although the cause of death appears to be unconfirmed, the tributes have been pouring in over the past couple hours. "Another UK legend sadly passed," said the label Rough Trade, while Nicky Blackmarket posted, "RIP COLIN FAVER one of the originals and true legend." "So long Colin Faver, UK techno pioneer and also industrial / post punk era promoter extraordinaire. An inspiration!" said Optimo's JD Twitch. Faver was known as one of the UK's first house and techno DJs, although he got started back in the punk days. He was a resident DJ at London's Camden Palace from 1982 to 1988, and played regularly at legendary parties like Shoom and Rage, and venues like Heaven and the WAG club. He was a founder at KISS FM, and became widely associated with the long-running show he presented on the station. We'll bring you more details as we get them.
