- The American label is releasing a sprawling compilation with tracks from Starkey, J Sweet and Dev79.
Starkey's Slit Jockey imprint will mark a decade in business with a new compilation on Friday.
10 Years Of Grime does what it says: the compilation collects 38 tracks from the label's history. Founded in Philadelphia by Starkey, Dev79 and El Carnicero in 2005, Slit Jockey is the self-proclaimed first American grime label, and it was started with the aim of bringing the grime sound of the UK across the Atlantic. The new compilation chronicles that, spanning the imprint's history and including a few rare tracks, like the Starkey remix of Sduk and Central Spillz's "Fire" or the Riko Dan version of Dev79's "Snapper Riddim." Among other highlights are tracks from J Sweet and J Beatz, Doshy, Stagga, former Planet Mu associate Numan and an early selection from Mr. Mitch.
