  • Black Rain and Shapednoise have collaborated on a new record called Apophis, which is scheduled for release in August. Apophis serves as the second transmission from Cosmo Rhythmatic, which is helmed by Shapednoise, real name Nino Pedone, alongside fellow Italians Ascion and D. Carbone—those three launched the label late last year with an EP from French avant-garde artist Franck Vigroux. (They also run Repitch.) It marks the latest move by Black Rain, Ike Yard member Stuart Argabright's dark ambient and industrial techno project, which was recently recruited to remix two AnD tracks on Electric Deluxe. Argabright appears to have found a kindred spirit in Pedone, who's been pursuing his own brand of noisy experimental techno in recent years. The two artists met in Pedone's Berlin studio last summer, resulting in the three original cuts on Apophis, whose name refers to a near-Earth asteroid. Also on hand with a remix is Modern Love man (and half of Demdike Stare) Miles Whittaker. Argabright has contributed a painting for the artwork of the EP, which will come on vinyl and digital formats. Cosmo Rhythmatic is also planning a collaborative LP from Vigroux and Finnish experimental veteran Mika Vainio, though further details for that one have yet to be announced. Tracklist A1 Metal Home A2 Autonomous Lethality B1 Interceptor (Miles Ramen Reshape) B2 Interceptor Cosmo Rhythmatic will release Apophis on August 20th, 2015.
