  • Alessandro Cortini and Richard Devine will travel to Austin this Saturday for the Trash_Audio Synth Meet. Trash_Audio is a gear blog that counts both Cortini and Devine among its contributors. The event they're playing is part of the New Media Art and Sound Summit (or NMASS), a weekend-long gathering hosted by the Austin nonprofit group Church of the Friendly Ghost at the Salvage Vanguard Theater. (I/O Music Technology and Switched On Austin are also co-sponsors for the afternoon.) It'll start with a synth meet and hands-on demonstration session featuring manufacturers from Austin, like Bleep Labs and Delptronics, and beyond. The early evening will then see a collection of artists take to the stage for synth performances. Cortini, the LA-based artist and Nine Inch Nails member who's gained increasing acclaim in recent years with his solo work, will play an A/V set based on his 2014 album Sonno. Devine, the long-time producer and sound designer whose output includes credits on the likes of Warp, Ninja Tune and Ghostly International, Surachai (another Trash_Audio contributor) and Baseck also count among the evening's musical offerings.
