  • Pole is back with an album called Wald due out in September. Berlin-based Stefan Betke is responsible for some of the most legendary dub techno and glitch records since the late '90s, though in recent years his output has come in fits and spurts. He hasn't dropped a full-length since 2007's Steingarten, and his last major release was the Waldgeschicten trilogy in 2011, along with a Roll The Dice collaboration in 2012. Pole says that Wald (which is German for forest) is one 50-minute piece divided into three acts, with each act further divided up into three tracks. That's pretty much all we know about it now, but there are two clips online—"Käfer," which you can listen to below, and "Kautz," which you can stream here. As usual, the LP will come via his self-titled label. Betke also has a new live show in collaboration with visual artist MFO for Wald which he'll debut next week at MUTEK Montreal, followed by performances in Seattle and Boston.
