Gilles Peterson, Henrik Schwarz and Steve Bug are among the names confirmed for an anniversary tour.
Compost Records will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a string of parties in May and June.
The Munich-based Compost family includes sublabels Compost Black Label, Compost Disco, Derwin Recordings and Drumpoet Community. Their combined discography comprises hundreds of releases, making Compost one of Germany's most prolific electronic music operations. The overall sound is varied, but much of the catalogue is atmospheric and breezy, suited to iPods and home stereos as much as it is club sets.
Compost's upcoming birthday celebrations begin at Munich's Muffatwerk on May 22nd, soundtracked by an all-star cast of the label's associates. Gilles Peterson, Henrik Schwarz and Osunlade are among the bigger names billed. The party heads east to Prince Charles in Berlin the following night, headlined by Ian Pooley and Chateau Flight. Pavillion im Schlossgarten in Karlsruhe, southwest Germany, will then host Steve Bug and Rainer Truby on June 26th. The tour's sole Switzerland date is locked in for the 27th at Zukunft in Zurich, featuring Thomas Herb, Shahrokh Dini and Michael Reinboth.
A book looking back on Compost's past 20 years is also planned. Details are still scarce, but we know that it will be titled 20 Years Compost Records and come packaged with Compost's 500th release, Compost 500 / Freshly Composted.
