  • RISE Club will close its doors on Saturday, April 25th. The two-floor nightclub has provided early morning dance parties for over 16 years in a city where other nightlife establishments must close by 2 AM. It is the city's only legal afterhours venue. This week general manager Mike Swells released a statement saying that RISE will shutter later this month due to an expired lease and problems related to the "rapidly gentrifying city of Boston." "The City of Boston tried to fight RISE in the beginning, fearing the club would ruin the neighborhood with noise complaints, prostitution and illegal activity," Swells explains. "The exact opposite has happened, which is one reason for the closure." The venue, which opens at 1AM and serves no alcohol, will see out its final weeks with an ambitious lineup of high-profile headliners and local staples. Highlights include a set from Boston heroes Soul Clap tonight, spinning alongside Tanner Ross and company, as well as an April 18th gig with Victor Calderone. Their final closing party will welcome RISE favorite Danny Tenaglia, who will play from open to close.
