Formula Records will release its first compilation, f=BASS², on April 6th.
Since its inception in 2011, Formula has outlined a sound somewhere between the borders of UK funky, bassline house and grime. The full version of the f=BASS² compilation follows two sampler 12-inches, one of which included a collaboration between Terror Danjah and Zed Bias and was reviewed on RA.
The 15-track compilation emphasizes the label's core roster—namely founder Champion and Flava D—as well as guests like Mickey Pearce, Killjoy and AC Slater, plus vocalists Meridian Dan, Ruby Lee Ryder and Badness. It's made up mostly of unreleased tunes with "everything from grime motifs through to echoes of dancehall and reggae, hard-hitting slabs of bassline house and lovingly crafted UK garage" according to the label.
