- Last Sleep was made with the same setup that birthed his previous Last Step album back in 2012.
Venetian Snares will drop a new Last Step EP, Lost Sleep, on March 3rd, 2015.
The date of release can be abbreviated to 303, a fact not lost on Aaron Funk, who has never been afraid to imbue his music with humor. The breakcore progenitor's Last Step project has often veered towards IDM and acid stylings, centering on the Roland TB-303 (there's the joke). Funk says the hardware jams on the new release were created around the same time as the Sleep LP, a release he claims was "produced in the liminal zone between wakefulness and its opposite."
Funk provides a typically odd preface for Lost Sleep: "The third of March is 303 day and here's some acid from my collection to celebrate! These were made on the same setup I had for Sleep at some point after I made those tracks. Can't remember making them but they sound really nice. March 3, 1982 was a Wednesday."
