- From Paris to Kiev, Copenhagen to Zurich, we highlight some of Europe's key New Year's events.
When New Year's Eve hits, most of the world's best DJ talent will be in Europe. So whether you're in France, Lithuania, Belgium, Ukraine, or somewhere else, you can probably count on something going down close by.
France, Switzerland, Belgium
Naturally, Paris has some solid local and international options. Rex Club hosts a homegrown lineup of Seuil, Djebali and Jef K, while Dutch outfit Dekmantel Soundsystem play alongside Berlin trio ItaloJohnson at Batofar. Meanwhile, two parties in Switzerland stand out: DJ Hell headlines at Cafe Gold in Zurich, while Martin Buttrich plays at Rok Klub in Luzern. In Belgium, Brussels club Fuse welcomes Dave Clarke and Technasia, while the Visionquest crew (Ryan Crosson, Lee Curtiss and Shaun Reeves) take care of things at Café D'anvers Antwerp on the evening of January 1st.
Denmark, Sweden, Finland
What better way to keep warm up in the Nordics on New Year's Eve than dancing? As usual, Copenhagen spot Culture Box have confirmed a local-heavy bill: Asmus Odsat, Tine Valentin, Pernille and Kasper Melchior are the home grown highlights, with Swedish Berlin resident Joel Alter also confirmed. At Stockholm club Under Bron, Grounded Theory associate John Osborn headlines on the 31st. Finally, techno fans in Helsinki, have a massive New Year's Day session to look forward to. Mike Dehnert, Answer Code Request and Pär Grindvik play at Ääniwalli, a former factory, where they share the bill with house artists Fred P and Ian Pooley.
Lithuania, Ukraine, Romania
One of Lithuania's main spots, Opium Club in Vilnius, has opted for a locals-only bill: Vidis and Manfredas are among the highlights. In Ukraine, swinging house will soundtrack Closer in Kiev, courtesy of Sonja Moonear and Evan Baggs. Lastly, in Romania, Ryan Crosson hits The Ark Terrace & Lounge in Bucharest.
