  • Swamp 81 will start an offshoot called 81 later this month, with the first EP coming from Mickey Pearce. Loefah's label was instrumental in steering UK dance music's shift away from dubstep towards house, techno and footwork. It was the home of many important releases, like Addison Groove's "Footcrab," Pinch's "Croydon House" and Joy Orbison's "Sicko Cell," among many others. Noted for its vinyl-only format, Swamp 81 was also notoriously inconsistent when it came to actually releasing the music—some records landed months later than expected. It looks like new imprint 81 is meant to alleviate that, with the label promising "the most upfront underground music, monthly" in a post on its Facebook page. The releases will also be delivered digitally, with vinyl on a limited-run basis. We don't have info on tracklists or exact release dates yet, but the schedule confirmed so far will see Pearce's long-awaited Instructions EP land sometime this month, with Paleman's Beezledub in October, Chunky's Oun-c in November and Zed Bias's Chokehold in December. Stream "Instructions" below.
81 will release Instructions in September 2014.
