Cooly G will release her next LP, Wait 'Til Night on October 10th.
London's Merisa Campbell has been a pillar of the Hyperdub roster since her debut in 2009, making waves with her rolling, UK funky-inspired sound and ethereal vocal stylings. (She also runs her own label, Dub Organizer.) She released her first full-length, Playin Me, two years ago, which RA's review called called "one of 2012's crossover successes."
Hyperdub describe Wait 'Til Night as "an album of sensitive, lo-fi bedroom music," with lyrical themes that generally focus on romance and sex. Though her broken beat sensibility remains, the new LP reportedly marks a move away from club material in favour of more R&B-influenced sounds. Synth pop and reggae are among the other reference points mentioned, and Campbell apparently raps on the record's closing track, "3 Of Us."
