Halocyan will release Universal Quantifier, a double-CD set of originals and remixes, on October 14th.
Most of the material on the compilation comes from a run of 12-inches the label released in rapid succession across 2012 and 2013. During this period, the LA imprint focused on established producers like Paul Woolford and Oliver Ho (under his Raudive alias) as well as newer talents such as xxxy and Arkist. Halocyan also managed to wrangle an impressive array of remixes—versions by DJ Pierre, Legowelt and Joey Beltram appear on the album.
There is a lofty philosophical motive behind the collection. The music was curated as a comment on the tension between "techne" (human made craft) and "episteme" (science, absolute truth) within electronic music. Universal Quantifier also includes a few unreleased originals. Check out Artifact's "Cry" below.
