- Michael, the American artist's first dance music album, will land later this fall.
Toro y Moi's Chaz Bundick has announced the debut album under his dance music moniker Les Sins, set for release on November 3rd.
Michael is inspired by a wide swath of pop culture references, says Bundick, from cartoon and movie soundtracks to '90s hip-hop production techniques and the work of iconic graphic designer and art director Paul Rand. “My favorite graphic designer, P. Rand always said, 'Don't try to be original, just try to be good,'” Bundick says. “When making this record that was/is my mantra."
“Bother," with its mild-mannered, minimalist house groove, is the first single from Michael, which is due out on Company Records—a new imprint founded by Bundick in partnership with Carkpark Records. You can stream it below. The LP follows a recent 12-inch for Carpark and two Les Sins singles—Fetch and Grind—for Daphni's Jiaolong label.
