  • Vatican Shadow and Liars will touch down in Chicago this Friday to play a free event at The Mid. Pitchfork Music Festival is happening this weekend in the Windy City, and this show at The Mid, presented by the Urban Outfitters clothing chain, will serve as an "afterfest" event. Liars—the experimental rock group whose latest LP Mess dropped on Mute a few months ago—actually has top billing. Vatican Shadow, AKA Dominick Fernow, the prolific producer of militant noise and techno, will be coming to town shortly after the digital release of his very limited cassette tape box set Death Is Unity With God. Dave P. and Sammy Slice, two DJs and members of Philadelphia's Making Time crew, complete the night's lineup. A RSVP through the Urban Outfitters website will get you in for free, capacity permitting. Fernow has another Vatican Shadow gig this weekend: he'll hit NYC to play a MoMA PS1 Warmup event, whose program for the day also includes Robert Hood and Rrose.
