  • Desert Hearts, a house and techno festival that takes place in different locations across the Southern California desert, has announced a new imprint of the same name, with the first release due out on July 15th. “One and a half years after the triumph of our very first Desert Hearts party, it's time we step into the worldwide arena,” says label head and party organizer Mikey Lion. The label’s first release, Voltron / The Defendant is a collaboration between Mikey Lion himself and UK producer Jonjo Williams; it’s a groovy tech house two-tracker laced with ‘70s guitar riffs and upfront melodies. Over the coming months the label will deliver an EP from Desert Hearts resident DJ Kevin Anderson, plus “music from the crew’s extended family.” If you’re in the US you can catch the Desert Hearts crew traveling the West Coast throughout the summer and early fall, with stops in San Francisco (at Audio, August 3rd), San Diego (at Spin, October 11) and at the Desert Hearts Two-Year Anniversary Festival at a California location to be announced from November 7th through 10th. Details for all of these events are still forthcoming. Mikey Lion is in the midst of a short solo tour this summer, with stops in Oceanside, CA (at the Summer Sun Festival, July 19th), in Santa Monica (at the Santa Monica Pier on July 27th), two shows in early August for The Do Lab, one in in Hollywood and one in San Diego, then at the V Elements Festival on September 27th, also in San Diego. Desert Hearts will release Voltron / The Defendant on July 15th, 2014.
