- Ahead of a debut EP for the label, the Montreal artist has released a free 20-track download of beats, tracks and remixes.
Montreal producer Kaytranada has signed to XL Recordings, with an EP in the works for the UK label.
Speaking to Fader, the 21-year-old said the record would be "more abstract-feeling" than his previous work. "I tried to do more of my unique stuff—the uptempo, neo-soul type of stuff," he says. "That's what I'm aiming for, to make it as funky as possible." The title and release date have not yet been announced. To celebrate the news, Kaytranada has dropped a free 20-track download, titled Whatever, comprising unreleased beats, tracks and remixes. You can download it here.
Kaytranada has a busy summer ahead, with 33 club and festival dates locked in across the US, Canada and Europe. The tour kicks off at Hifi in Calgary on May 14th and wraps up at a Mad Decent Block Party in Eugene, Oregon, on September 20th.
