- Kompakt will release the Icelandic band's next album in June.
GusGus have a new album called Mexico coming out on June 23rd.
The Icelandic group have been around for a while now, first debuting on 4AD before becoming steadily more electronic, switching labels a few times and eventually settling on Kompakt with 2009's 24/7. Now, following 2011's Arabian Horse, Birgir Thorarinsson, Daníel Ágúst, Högni Egilsson and Stephan Stephensen are returning with Mexico, which a press release describes as being infused "with the same luster as their earlier work, but... with the snappiness and intricate production values needed for contemporary debauchery." It goes onto say that the album draws influence from '80s synth pop, UK garage and '90s trance, and, in keeping with the vocal-heavy direction of recent records, the title track is the only instrumental on the whole LP.
Mexico's release is preceded by first single "Crossfade," which you can stream below, along with a remix 12-inch that features contributions from Maceo Plex and Michael Mayer which is due out on April 14th.
