  • Shambhala will again take over the Salmo River Ranch in British Columbia this year from August 6th through the 11th. The outdoor music festival has become one of the most important events of the summer season for BC partiers (as well as adventurous Albertans), and over time since its founding in 1998 it's not only grown exponentially but also increased the diversity of its acts, inching further towards embracing house and techno with each new year. 2014 definitely stands out in that regard—they've booked Justin Martin, Mr. Scruff, Mark Farina and recent house convert Skream as headliners, in addition to a DJ set from rave vet Moby. They've also got My Nu Leng, Christian Martin, Gorgon City and J. Phlip on the schedule. Bass music is as big a presence as ever, encompassing both big-room dubstep acts like Datsik and Excision as well as deeper DJs such as Deep Medi's Commodo, Truth and Phaeleh. Andy C, and Danny Byrd make up some of the early drum & bass highlights, while festival circuit regulars like Emancipator, Beats Antique and Griz will all make their appearances too. These performers will all be spread over six separately curated and designed stages. Other features of the festival site include an Artisan Market with over 40 vendors, plentiful food vendors, a recycling centre and a handful of other attractions yet to be announced.
