- Inspired by "nostalgia for pirate radio grime," the London producer's debut album is due out on Keysound Recordings next month.
Cold Mission, the first album by Logos, will come out on Keysound Recordings in November.
The London producer says the record is inspired by "nostalgia for pirate radio grime and the sense of loss I feel for that period." It features three collaborations, with Rabit, Mumdance and Keysound founders Dusk & Blackdown appearing on "Swarming," "Wut It Do" and "Alien Shapes" respectively.
"I'm interested in tracing the links between classic Metalheadz productions and early grime, especially the more angular stuff Slimzee played, but integrated in to a roughly 130 BPM club context," the producer says. "The title Cold Mission is a nod to 4Hero—it was one of their aliases—and that whole era of London retro futuristic music. It's also a reference to Digital's "Special Mission" and "Mission Accomplished," [which] both form part of a run of paranoid late '90s jungle masterpieces the equal of Tricky or Massive Attack."
To date the producer has released three EPs—including one for Keysound. To get an idea about what Cold Mission sounds like, check the SoundCloud player below, where "Wut It Do" is streaming.
