  • Hyetal will make his maiden voyage to the US next weekend. Though the producer hails from Bristol (and before that, Southampton), he's taken a bit of a different tack than his dub-obsessed West Country peers—the music of his last two albums has been more concerned with dramatic 80s pop and balladry. His most recent, May's Modern Worship, was compared to Vangelis and Kuedo in an RA review. His first transatlantic trip is confined to New York City, but he'll play two gigs over his one weekend in the states. First up, he'll headline a Popgun night at Glasslands Gallery on Friday, supported by Sepalcure member Praveen Sharma under his Braille alias, hip-hop obsessive Jim-E Stack and DJ True Panther (who also runs the label of the name, which Hyetal is currently signed to). The following afternoon, Hyetal will appear at MoMA PS1 for Warm Up 2013, where he'll be joined by fellow Bristol resident Julio Bashmore (with whom he has collaborated as Velour), a live set from Octave One, and a DJ turn from DJ Dodger Stadium, the pairing of LA producers Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy. For a taste of what he'll bring to the dates next weekend, stream his recent Boiler Room set here.
