- The producer also known as Obsolete Music Technology will release his debut album in July.
Steven Tang will release his debut album, Disonnect To Connect, on Smallville Records in July.
Tang is one of electronic music's more unassuming characters, with a steady trickle of 12-inches dating back to 1998 under his real name and as Obsolete Music Technology. The US producer says he first had the idea to release an LP "around 1999 or 2000," when he made three tracks that appear on Disconnect To Connect: "Interstice," "It's Perceived As Sound," and "Brink Of Dawn."
"When those tracks were done, I felt they were better suited for an album release because I experimented outside of the typical 4/4 dance track," Tang explains. "But putting an album out during that time would not have garnished the impact that I wanted, since I was still a relatively unknown artist. So I put the tracks aside. Over the past decade, I worked on many more 12-inch singles to get my name out there, while still working on tracks that I thought would suit the album."
Disonnect To Connect will see release through Hamburg label Smallville, which has previously put out albums from Move D & Benjamin Brunn, Christopher Rau, Moomin and label bosses Smallpeople.
