Shangaan Electro to hold dance workshops in the UK

- Shangaan Electro has announced a tour of dance workshops around the UK through July. The South African collective first made waves in the international community back in 2010 with a self-titled compilation on Honest Jon's profiling their specific brand of uptempo club tracks. The disc was later followed by a star-studded remix album called Shangaan Shake. The music—reaching up to 180 BPM—is usually accompanied by a distinctive style of dance as integral to the scene as the beats themselves. They'll show off those moves on their cross-continental jaunt. The Shangaan Electro crew—including producers Nozinja and Tshetsha Boys, plus vocalists Tiyiselani and Nkata Mawewe—will travel around the UK, both performing live and teaching people how to do the genre's unique dance style. The instructive tour will hit Bristol, London, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield. Shangaan will also appear at Dance Nations Dalston and Shoreditch Festival in London. During that month, the group will also head across Europe in between their workshop dates. They'll make stops at Amsterdam's Pitch Festival, Inspire Festival in Liempde and Metropolis in Rotterdam, Switzerland's Paléo and Sweden's Clandestino Festival, as well as a club date in Stockholm.
