  • Luke Hess and XDB will visit Australia for the first time this Easter long weekend. Both artists emerged around the mid-'00s: the Detroit-born Hess made his production debut in early 2007 on Berettamusic Grey, closely followed by a 12-inch on Omar-S' FXHE imprint, while German native XDB's first release was on his own Metrolux Music label back in '06. Last year proved a fruitful one for them, with Hess releasing his second LP, Keep On, which RA's Todd L. Burns called "one of the most enjoyable full-lengths of the year", while XDB released a collaboration with Workshop producer Kassem Mosse on Diamonds & Pearls which shifted from his usual dub techno sound into house music. While in Australia, the two artists will be sharing the bill for two of their three shows, with Hess playing live at each of his gigs. The first double-bill is in Sydney on March 28th, where 4our and Shrug will team up to host the party at Goodgod Small Club with locals Trinity, Dave Stuart and Magda Bytnerowicz. The following day from 2 PM, the three-day Inner Varnika festival kicks off in country Victoria with a lineup that also features Lerosa, Wbeeza and a collection of Melbourne house and techno acts including Andras Fox, Francis Inferno Orchestra and Sleep D. From there the travellers split up: Hess will play a Let's Get Minimal boat party on Friday the 29th, while XDB will be spinning at Adelaide's Cuckoo Bar on Sunday the 31st. Tickets to the Sydney and Brisbane shows can be purchased here on RA.
