  • Derrick Carter will touch down this Australia Day long weekend to play five shows. The Chicago icon has been a key figure in the city's house music scene since the late '80s and now, at 43 years of age, he remains a dominant force in international dance music. His influential Classic imprint, established in 1995 with Luke Soloman, has run well past 100 releases and he continues to be one of the world's most active DJs. In November 2012 he released the latest in ITH Records' House Masters series which featured a total of 15 previously unreleased Carter productions. Now, as part of a House Masters tour, he returns to Australia for a densely packed weekend of partying. Carter's first show is on January 25th at Perth's Geisha Bar, hosted by Habitat, followed by a Sydney party at Goldfish on the 26th with Illya, Matt Cahill and Johnny Gleeson in support. He heads to Brisbane on Sunday the 27th to play an afternoon set at Cloudland Bar, before flying down to Adelaide to play Garage that same night. His last set will be at Alumbra in Perth on the evening of the 28th, the Australia Day public holiday, on a bill that also features Sonny Fodera and Simon Digby. Tickets to the Sydney show can be purchased here on RA.
