The Toronto artist goes techno on his first solo full-length, The Incline of Western Civilization Pt III.
Azari & III member Alphonse Lanza, AKA Alixander III, will release his first solo album this November.
The record is grandiosely titled The Incline of Western Civilization Pt. III. According to a press release, Lanza recorded it after getting home from what ended up being about three years of touring with Azari & III, which could partly explain the sound of the album: Incline... is 90 minutes of warped techno and electro that's conspicuously light on melody and vocals, a far cry from the pop-friendly house he makes with his bandmates. The album's first single is its final track, a 22-minute epic called "The Jugular." You can hear that one below. Both records will come out on Lanza's new label, Idol Hanse.
