  • Above the Clouds, a series of fundraisers headlined by electronic musicians, will kick off on November 1st at The Old Blue Last in London. Taking its name from the Gangstarr track of the same name ("Above the crowds, above the clouds where the sounds are original/ Infinite skills create miracles"), the party is both an opportunity to support a good cause and to showcase up-and-coming electronic producers. Musically, the series will focus on live performances, with an emphasis on what the promoters are calling "live experimental, alternative and generally titillating electronic sound." For this first edition, Above the Clouds has tapped Super Records boss Raffertie and Black Acre signings Memotone and Romare to play live. Pedestrian and Noah Hope are also on board for DJ sets. Rather than charge a set cover, the party asks guests to make a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support, an organization dedicated to helping people affected by cancer. Though Macmillan helps fund treatment programs and caregivers, they also help in ways medical treatment cannot, like providing support to patients' families and advocating for better and more equitable treatment.
