Omar-S, Andrew Weatherall, Vatican Shadow, Ancient Methods and Untold are just some of the artists playing the London club's run of anniversary parties.
Corsica Studios is celebrating its 10th birthday with a three-month run of parties, concerts, lectures and more.
The understated venue began as an independent space for music and arts in Kings Cross back in '97, before moving to its current spot at Elephant and Castle in 2002. Today it's a key part of London's club circuit, with a diverse program of regular nights that touch on everything from deep house to purist techno. This is clear to see in their run of anniversary events. This Saturday, The Kosmische Club (one of Corsica's oldest nights) will bring in former Cluster member Hans-Joachim Roedelius with the party's own Leon Muraglia, plus Andrew Weatherall, Gavin Russom and others. Tief will celebrate its own first birthday with Omar-S, Portable, Mano Le Tough, Bicep and many more.
Looking ahead, Planet Mu will host Venetian Snares, Boxcutter, Ital Tek and label boss µ-Ziq. Trouble Vision will celebrate its fourth birthday with two parties, the first with David Rodigan, Zed Bias, Trickski and Slow Hands, the second with Nick Höppner, Lil' Louis, Session Victim and Genius of Time. Blackest Ever Black go deep and dark as always, courtesy of BleeD, with Cut Hands, Black Rain and Vatican Shadow. Bill Brewster and DJ Strangefruit (of Mungolian Jet Set) will play a Low Life Halloween party on October 27th. The series wraps up with a night of bass and no-nonsense techno from Plex, Colony and Machine, featuring Regis, Untold, Livity Sound, A Made Up Sound, Ancient Methods (and Ugandan Methods), Ben Sims and more.
But there's more to Corsica's 10th anniversary series than just parties. Baba Yaga's Hut, the live experimental side of the operation, will host groups like Acid Mothers Temple, Moon Duo, Gala Drop and Dead Skeletons at five concerts in October and November. Red Bull Music Academy are getting in on the action as well, teaming up with Corsica for a series of lectures, performances and art installations curated by avant-garde artist Francisco Lopez.
