  • Derrick May will headline a night in Vancouver on July 13th. May is known as one of the Belleville Three, the three Detroit-area artists (along with Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson) who played a huge role in shaping the sound of techno. He founded the Transmat label in 1986, which has released artists like Octave One and Aril Brikha, not to mention a host of his own classic tracks, which include "Strings of Life," "Nude Photo," and "It Is What It Is." In addition to tracks under his own name, May has also worked under the aliases Mayday and Rhythim Is Rhythim as well as a number of collaborative projects over the course of his career. The event will take place at Vancouver's large-capacity Club 560, and local DJ support comes from Mike McSuede and Intimate Productions' own Abasi.
