  • Bodytonic Music and Nightflight will return to London in April for this year's string of Airbound parties. Airbound began in 2009 as a summertime festival in Croatia, run by the aforementioned Irish promoters. Since then it's morphed into an annual event in London, whose success is fueled in part by the city's Irish expatriates. "The idea for the first event came about from the fact that so many of our friends had left Dublin because of the recession," says John Mahon, one of the main forces behind both Airbound and Bernard Shaw, Bodytonic's first venue in Dublin. "At both Bodytonic and Nightflight parties we were looking at gaping holes on our dance floors, a stark reminder of just how many of them had to leave town to find work. The majority of them seemed to have settled in London so with that realisation and because we wanted to keep the Airbound name alive after the success of the 2009 festival in Croatia, the idea of bringing the party to them in London came about almost inevitably." This year's shindigs begin with two parties on Good Friday—"in defiance of the 24-hour prohibition back home." The first is an already sold out boat party featuring Mahon, plus Nightflight DJs Steve Manning and Lil'Dave among others. Next is a party at Corsica Studios with DMX Krew, Daniel Wang and Neville Watson among others. There will be a secret after party later on, followed by a "Resurrection" party on Easter Sunday, though details on those are still under wraps.
