  • Next month, Needwant will release a mix that looks back on classic New York house label Nu Groove, mixed by the young Italian DJ Nicholas. Nu Groove came together in 1988 when two New York artists, Rheji & Ronald Burrell, ditched a career in R&B and started making house music. The label was founded originally as a platform for their productions, but eventually became one of New York's premiere house labels, with over 100 records out by the time it closed in 1995, many of them by the Burrell twins, both of whom operated under a range of different pseudonyms (Metro, Assylum, Equation, Houz' Neegroz, Aphrodisiac, etc.). The upcoming mix shows a batch of Nu Groove records edited and mixed together by Nicholas, a young artist with a knack for reviving house classics (he recently reinterpreted Robert Owens' One Body, also for Needwant). It's due out at the end of November, with a launch party next weekend at Basing House in London, featuring Nicholas, Robert Owens and Needwant boss Sean Brosnan. Tracklist 01.
