Mark Ernestus billed for Sonic City Festival

- This year's Sonic City festival will take place this weekend in Kortrijk, Belgium. The annual avant-garde festival is curated by a different artist each year. Past editions have been programmed by the likes of Deerhoof and experimental hip-hop artist Dälek; this year's event lineup comes courtesy of Brooklyn art-rock favorites Liars. They'll top tomorrow's bill, joined by a slew of acts that no doubt influenced their left-field sound, such as The Legendary Pink Dots and Throbbing Gristle founders Chris & Cosey. On the dubbier side of things, Mark Ernestus will play live with Tikiman as Rhythm & Sound. Sunday's event features performances by HTRK, chill-wave group Washed Out and one of the '80s most influential punk and metal bands, Melvins.
