  • This year's Brick Lane music festival will take place on September 17th and 18th. It will be the fifth consecutive autumn music weekender at different venues in and around Brick Lane. All four venues from last year are participating—Big Chill Bar, Café 1001, Vibe Bar and All Star Lanes—plus new entry The Rhythm Factory, which is just minutes away in Whitechapel Road. Highlights on day one of the festival include Tornado Wallace and Pete Herbert at the Rhythm Factory, Tomoki Tamura, Rico Casazza and Gabbi Lopez rocking Cafe 1001 and Kraak & Smaak at the Big Chill. Twin Sister will host an official after party with Camea on the Saturday night. It will take place at a secret warehouse space within the Truman Brewery, with Lo*kee's Nisekay and Puppet Parade's Canary Fontaine joining the Clink Recordings founder on the bill. Day Two will see esteemed dub selector David Rodigan at Vibe Bar. The programme also features live music from the likes of synth-pop band The Eyes In The Heat and Future Swing Stories, plus a retro-fest at All Star Lines with Motown, ska and pysch as well as, of course, bowling. The festival is, once again, free of charge via wristband (except for the after party, which is reduced entry for all wristband holders). Make sure you pick up a wristband from one of the venues before the 17th or sign up to the Rhythm Factory events here on RA to guarantee entry. The festival is in aid of the Musicians Benevolent Fund, which assists musicians of all ages at different stages in their lives; a donation is required on receipt of your wristband.
