  • Rod Modell and Stephen Hitchell will make a rare local appearance in Detroit next weekend, where they'll play live as DeepChord presents Echospace. The two artists operate under a few different aliases, but their music is always rooted in deep, dubby atmospheres born from living in Chicago, Detroit and Berlin (and most recently Amsterdam, the inspiration for Modell's last solo album). But aside from a set at Movement earlier this summer, Detroit appearances from the duo have been rare over the past few years. Their sound should be a perfect fit for next Sunday's Proper|Modulation party, Dub As It Has Always Been, which will take place outside at New Center Park. Also billed for the event is Luke Hess, another dub-centric local artist whose tracks have appeared on Echocord and FXHE. P|M DJ's Mike Petrack and Aran Daniels round out the bill for the evening, which runs from 6:00 PM to midnight.
